"Good governance on local level! Strengthening local self-government with preventive measures against corruption" - 04th until 05th October in Skopje, Macedonia
As a continuation of the Regional Conference of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the topic: "Identifying and addressing corruption vulnerabilities at local level" in Skopje (Macedonia), a workshop was organized and conducted in cooperation between the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption of the Republic of Macedonia, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the CIVIC Institute for international education with more than 30 employees from the local public administration.
Within the topic "Good governance on local level! Strengthening local self-government with preventive measures against corruption", the participants discussed mainly topics regarding the effective prevention of corruption and the preparation of practice-oriented concepts aiming at prevention.
During their lectures and workshops, Holger-Michael Arndt from the CIVIC Institute for international education and Ingo Sorgatz from the Federal Ministry of Interior Affairs, put a focus on regulations concerning receiving rewards and presents which apply to employees in the public administration.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation would like to build on these experiences and plans to enable a yearly event on the topic of preventing corruption in the Republic of Macedonia on local level.
