Giving Europe a home from 10th to 13th of May 2017 in Georgia
Almost 30 active and interested students, coming from the countries of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union (Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) had the chance to participate in the event „Giving Europe a home“, initiated by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with the CIVIC-Institute for international Education. The seminar took place in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi for a period of four days.
The event was tied up to the common project „Our picture of Europe“ in Lopota/Georgia in 2016.
The focus of the seminar was the new simulation „Giving Europe a home“. By taking roles of representatives of the different institutions in the European Union, the participants made an attempt to initiate a common legal act in the field of culture.
Following the idea of Federica Mogherini, the participants discussed the chances and options of the worldwide foundation of European Cultural Institutes.
Whereas this objective could be obtained in course of the presentation, in reality there is yet needed a wide range of discussions for this ambitious project.
The two trainers from the CIVIC-Institute (Martina Eichlinger from Vienna und Holger-Michael Arndt from Düsseldorf) were enthusiastic about the commitment and cooperation of the participants.
An important part of the event played implicitly the cross-border and cross-politics networking and integration process among the participants coming from six Eastern Partnership countries.
An adequate and convenient closure of this event was the Live-Presentation of the “Eurovision Song Contest”, themed “Unity in Diversity” – a slogan that described in a perfect way the communion among the group of participants.
