Summer School „Lithuania in the Region: Challenges of Security in the XXI century”
Goce Peroski and Georg Schwedt, two lecturers of the CIVIC-Institute for international education, conducted the simulation Focus Balkan in the framework of the programme Summer School “Lithuania in the Region: Challenges of Security in the XXI century“, that was organised by the Kolping University of Applied Science, the Kolping Association of Lithuania and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation from 27 to 28 July 2014. 27 pupils which graduated from High School from all parts of Lithuania participated in this event.
The participants got to know the institutions of the European Union which are involved in the enlargement process. They took over roles of respective actors and became members of the European Commission, the Council of the EU, the European Parliament and representatives of applicant countries. Like this, they got acquainted with the procedure of enlargement and could exchange their positions. Besides the application of Turkey, also the applications for accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia had been discussed. At the end an evaluation was made that stressed important aspects of the simulation.
